BD Industrial Visit 2015
Posted 10 March 2015 at 12:16

On 2 February 2015, a group of 24 Biomedical Engineering students were joined by 2 professors and 1 teaching assistant to visit BD, a global medical technology company. BD specialises in developing and manufacturing medical devices and supplies amongst many others. Their motto, 'Helping all people lead healthy lives', speaks to many of our aspiring Biomedical Engineering Students who had the rare opportunity to view the workings of BD.

The students were in for a treat as they were given a tour of the research and development offices where devices invented by BD and current devices BD are working on were showcased to these students. This was followed by an educational tour of the manufacturing plant where they had the chance to see how the medical devices are mass produced and sterilised. BD also took the effort to prepare refreshments for the hungry students at the end of the tour. This doubles as the perfect opportunity for the students to mingle around and find out more about BD as well as the Biomedical Industry in Singapore.

This industrial visit would not have been as educational if not for the kind people of BD who put in their utmost effort to ensure that the visit was informative and entertaining. Their hospitality was nothing short of excellent. We would like to take this opportunity to thank BD for providing this eye-opening experience. We hope that everyone who attended managed to take away something useful and is now a little more knowledgeable about the workings of a biomedical company!

And to those who missed this chance, fret not. More industrial visits will be coming your way. So keep a lookout and check your NUS e-mail regularly. We hope to see you there next time!

For now, let us end off with the learning experiences of some students who attended the BD Industrial Visit 2015!
